In a newspaper article published today, Lo noted that recent statements from the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office and the Office for Safeguarding National Security underscore the central government’s strong emphasis on the election’s success, serving as a stern warning to anti-China forces attempting to disrupt it.
He stressed that any actions or statements undermining the election violate Hong Kong’s electoral laws, the Hong Kong National Security Law, and the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance, with authorities committed to decisive legal action against such interference.
Following Macau’s 53.35 percent voter turnout in its recent Legislative Assembly election, Lo revealed that Hong Kong officials have studied Macau’s voter mobilization strategies, learning from its effective organization to ensure a robust election process.
He highlighted that numerous community groups and institutions in Hong Kong are preparing various campaigns to encourage voting, reflecting a collective effort to engage the public.
Lo expressed confidence that the central government’s call for citizens to actively participate in selecting the Legislative Council will lead to an unprecedented citywide mobilization.
He predicted that this enthusiasm would naturally drive voter turnout higher than in the previous election.
