HK swimmer Siobhan Haughey nabs silver at Barcelona Leg of Mare Nostrum Swim Tour 2025

Hong Kong's top swimmers delivered strong performances at the Barcelona stop of the prestigious Mare Nostrum Swim Tour 2025, with Olympic medalist Siobhan Haughey securing silver in the women's 100m freestyle event.  

Haughey, who had dominated last week's Monaco leg with two gold medals, clocked 53.88 seconds in Wednesday's final to finish just 0.32 seconds behind Dutch swimmer Marrit Steenbergen. 

Teammate Li Sum-yiu placed 13th overall after competing in the B-final.  

In the men's competition, Hong Kong's Ian Ho Yentou earned a silver medal in the 50m freestyle with a time of 22.35 seconds.

Haughey has claimed an impressive haul of two gold medals and one silver so far in this year's Mare Nostrum Swim Tour. The Olympic medalist previously dominated the Monaco leg, securing top honors in both the 100m and 200m freestyle events.

Haughey will return to competition later for the women's 200m freestyle, where she will attempt to capture her first gold medal at the current tour stop.
