More than 70 heavyweights from the medical and financial sectors will join a global health summit co-organized by the Hong Kong government and Trade Development Council next Wednesday.
Under the theme of "Shaping a Resilient and Sustainable Future," the first Asia Summit on Global Health will include seven panel discussion sessions, Deal Flow Matchmaking sessions, medical and healthcare business matching, and the InnoHealth Showcase and Exhibition.
"The summit will gather healthcare and business leaders from across the globe to promote medical innovation, business exchange, as well as investment and collaboration, while highlighting Hong Kong's advantages as a scientific research and business platform for the medical and healthcare industries," said Margaret Fong Shun-man, executive director of the HKTDC.
Encompassing the cutting-edge technologies of around 100 start-ups, medical and health companies and institutions, the InnoHealth Showcase and Exhibition will feature DNA sequencing specialist Codex Genetics, Gense Technologies who invented a hand gesture recognition wristband for the deaf and the mute, and telemedicine company Aurora Tele-Oncology who specialized in curing tumors.
Senior healthcare officials from the World Health Organization, including Emeritus director-general Margaret Chan Fung Fu-chun, chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan, and Takeshi Kasai, regional director for the Western Pacific, are discussing the latest healthcare trends and ways to build a more resistant long-term public health system.
Executives from pharmaceutical manufacturers AstraZeneca, Hoffmann-La Roche, Sino Biopharmaceutical (1177), and Fosun International (0656), as well as local medical research experts such as Rocky Tuan Sung-chi, Chinese University's president and bioengineer, Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, the pioneer of non-invasive prenatal DNA testing, liver transplant expert Lo Chung-mau, and lung cancer specialist Tony Mok Shu-kam, will discuss the future of "new health economy" in the Greater Bay Area.
A number of chief executive officers in the financial sector will also make their appearances in the event, such as Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing's (0388) Nicolas Aguzin, Nan Fung Group's Antony Leung Kam-chung, and Victor Chu Lap-lik from private equity firm First Eastern Investment, who is also widely known as the founder of Peach Aviation.
The summit will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, offering both online and in-person participation.
