Hong Kong-based insurer AIA (1299) has proposed appointing KPMG as the company’s external auditor for the financial year ending December 2026, replacing incumbent PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The company said the change follows a “thorough and competitive” tender process and is subject to shareholder approval at the next annual general meeting, according to an exchange filing.
The insurer launched the auditor tender process in August 2024, citing its commitment to good corporate governance, transparency, and quality in the financial disclosures.
PwC will continue in its external auditor role and will undertake the audit of AIA's consolidated financial statements for the year ending December 2025, having been reappointed at the annual general meeting held on May 23.
