Kerry Logistics Network steers sustainability to success

Solid efforts made towards environmental, social and governance initiatives, Kerry Logistics Network became a winner of multiple sustainability awards.

Receiving its latest accolade, Kerry Logistics Network is honoured to be recognised for its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance at the 2022 HKMA Best Annual Reports Awards, as a winner of the Certificate of Excellence in ESG Reporting.

As a leading logistics company with an extensive global presence across 59 countries and territories, Kerry Logistics Network offers supply chain solutions from integrated logistics, international freight forwarding across air, ocean, road, rail and multimodal, e-commerce and express, to industrial project logistics, last-mile fulfilment and infrastructure investment.

Despite its extensive business and geographical footprint, at the heart of Kerry Logistics Network, sustainability remains a priority. With the aim of strengthening its logistics network against climate change, as well as minimising its environmental footprint around the world, it strives to enhance operational efficiency by switching to renewable energy for road transport so as to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

As part of its green initiatives, it is also the first logistics company in Hong Kong to use electric trucks in a move towards net zero emissions by 2050.

“We are proud to be the first logistics company in Hong Kong to deploy e-trucks, which demonstrates our strategic focus on supporting cleaner and greener supply chain management,” said William Ma, Group Managing Director of Kerry Logistics Network.

He added that in order to futureproof its growth, the Company has been shifting to alternative fuel vehicles and phasing out vehicles with lower emissions standards on a trial basis.

Sustainability lays the groundwork for growth

Recently, Kerry Logistics Network’s efforts on ESG were also recognized at the ESG Achievement Awards 2021/2022 with two awards: the ESG Benchmark Award - Silver Award and the Outstanding Sustainability and Dividend Growth Award.

Its excellent ESG achievements allowed it to remain as a constituent of the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Benchmark Index (HSSUSB), one of the 96 Hong Kong listed companies on the index.

The HSSUSB is one of the five indices under the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series, which provides a benchmark for sustainability investments. Constituents of the HSSUSB are Hong Kong-listed companies with outstanding corporate sustainability performance.

“The recognitions we received are hugely encouraging, as it proves our ESG framework and performance is right on track,” Ma noted.

“As the global supply chain continues to face multiple challenges, our sustainability framework will become the building blocks for our efficient operations, environmental and community contributions, and effective stakeholders’ engagement, helping us to adapt to market shocks and capture future opportunities,” he added.
