Veteran entertainer Eric Tsang Chi-wai made a public appearance on Friday (Aug 21) amid recent controversy, after being named Hong Kong’s first owner of BYD’s newly launched M9 DM-i seven-seater, priced at HK$596,900 for the Premium version.
Tsang attended the electric car brand’s new car handover ceremony in Wan Chai, where he received the car keys from two company executives.
He was seen smiling as he took the keys but did not speak during the ceremony.
Tsang’s first production under his own company, Lies Hunter, was hit by a series of accidents during filming, with two actors, Michelle Wai Sze-nga and Alan Tam Kwan-lun, sustaining injuries and being taken to hospital at separate times.
Tsang posed for media photos before leaving shortly afterwards, declining media interviews.
The M9 DM-i is a plug-in hybrid seven-seater and one of two new BYD models launched in Hong Kong on Friday. The other is the Atto 1, a compact electric hatchback priced at HK$169,360.
The M9 DM-i Premium comes with a 36.6kWh battery and a claimed pure-electric range of up to 145 kilometres under the WLTP standard.
Both models will be displayed at BYD showrooms across Hong Kong from Friday.
