At 50, actress Charmaine Sheh is enjoying a career peak after winning her fourth Best Actress award for “The Queen of News,” but she remains single and has no intention of having children, revealing in a rare interview with close friend Toby Leung that she has already prepared her will to leave her estimated HK$200 million fortune mostly to her mother and two brothers.
In the candid conversation, Sheh expressed strong reservations about motherhood at her age, citing insufficient physical energy and the extreme difficulty of balancing a demanding career with family responsibilities.
She admitted admiring Toby’s happy family life—especially the warm moments when her children run to hug her—but said she lacks the ability to handle both work and parenthood, preferring to focus fully on one thing.
Sheh reflected that twenty years ago she might have chosen marriage and kids, but seeing friends exhausted by family duties changed her view.
She now cherishes her freedom as a single woman, spends more time with her mother, lives in the moment, and does not force romance.
Recent losses, including the death of godfather Hui Shiu-hung, reinforced her sense of life’s fragility and prompted her to plan ahead with the will.
