Referred to as "sleeping in the toilet," the unconventional living conditions she shared online have drawn netizens' attention, with some questioning whether the situation is genuine or staged for publicity.
According to reports, Yang, a 2006-born girl from Zhuzhou, Hunan, works as a salesperson in a furniture store and earns a monthly salary of 2700 yuan.
Faced with the dilemma of spending a significant portion of her income on rent and unable to find an affordable and suitable living space, she reached an agreement with her employer to sleep in the company's washroom.
Yang told reporters that since she uses water and electricity while living on the company premises, she insisted on paying for these utilities. Initially, her employer refused to accept Yang’s 200 yuan payment, and later agreed to take only 50 yuan after the 18-year-old insisted.
Despite colleagues and even customers using the washroom during the day, Yang ensures the space is meticulously cleaned. She hangs a curtain in front of the cubicle door at night, unfolds a portable bed, and even cooks within the washroom.
Expressing her desire to save money for future investments in her own home and a car, Yang remains unfazed by skepticism regarding her living situation.
She also noted she did not care what others thought about her.
However, Yang's days of sleeping in the washroom are numbered. She revealed that her employer is in the process of installing a door in the office space, after which she plans to move her makeshift bedroom there.
