Chinese officials are building a list of US technology companies that can be targeted with antitrust probes and other tools, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The report cited sources saying Beijing is aiming to gain as much leverage as possible in negotiations with the Trump administration over US-China issues.
Beijing has previously stated that it is investigating Nvidia and Google over potential antitrust issues.
Other American companies in its sights include Apple, Silicon Valley tech company Broadcom and semiconductor-design software vendor Synopsys, cited the Wall Street Journal according to people familiar with the matter.
China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded that it was not aware of the situation and opposed politicizing trade and technology issues.
