HK restaurants sweep top two spots at Asia's 50 Best Restaurants

Innovation projects from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) garnered eight prestigious awards at the 15th International Invention Fair in the Middle East (IIFME), marking a significant milestone for the institution.
The accolades included four Gold Medals with the Congratulations of the Jury, two Gold Medals, and two special prizes: the World Intellectual Property Organization National Award for Inventors and the Special Prize awarded by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
CUHK said that the awarded projects reflect its commitment to transforming research and innovation into socially impactful products.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Sham Mai-har expressed pride in the recognition of CUHK's innovative inventions on an international stage.
“I am proud and delighted that innovative inventions from CUHK have gained recognition overseas,” he said.
Sham highlighted that the eight prestigious awards underscore CUHK’s exceptional research capabilities across various fields and its excellence in knowledge transfer.
“I look forward to seeing the winning research teams continue to pursue new breakthroughs and translate their research outcomes for the benefit of society,” he said.
The award-winning projects, contributed by research teams from the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Science, showcase CUHK’s diverse academic strengths and leadership in technological advancement, as well as its commitment to addressing global challenges.
This year, the IIFME, held in Kuwait, is recognized as the largest specialized exhibition of inventions in the Middle East and the second largest globally.
In collaboration with the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, it fosters a culture of innovation and strengthens connections among inventors, enterprises, and investors worldwide.
