The Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) has launched the city's inaugural pet bus service, which will operate on five regular routes during weekends and public holidays.
The service started on Sunday (Oct 13), covering routes in Sha Tin, Tsuen Wan, Science Park, Sai Kung, West Kowloon Cultural District, and Ma Wan.
The double-decker buses operating on these routes are similar to regular one but are equipped with pet-cleaning amenities.
A dog owner surnamed Yeung said she usually opted for car-hailing services when traveling with her pet and expressed enthusiasm about this new alternative.
Another dog owner, Law, expressed the hope that KMB would extend the pet bus routes.
Apart from dogs, the double-deckers also feature a designated "Cat Zone" where felines can enjoy the bus ride.
Hu, a cat owner from the mainland, appreciates Hong Kong's pet-friendly arrangement.
Most passengers were satisfied with the rides, although some expressed a desire for longer journeys.
To experience the pet bus, owners have to register on the KMB online store with a fare of HK$35 per trip. The multiple pet routes operate between 10 am to 4 pm.
In addition, KMB mentioned that a portion of the profit will be donated to animal welfare organizations.
