The employees of two long-established dried seafood shops have been accused of using the nursing room in a mall in Ma On Shan to handle the dried seafood.
Staff from "Nam Pei Hong" and "Old Sheung Wan" were filmed using the nursing room to wash and handle the store products, with one shop even allegedly soaking sea cucumbers in the sink.
The two female employees also stopped other mothers who needed the facilities from accessing the nursing room.
The incident has sparked outrage among netizens, who have accused the shops of misusing the nursing rooms and raised concerns over food safety.
Nam Pei Hong apologized on social media stating that they had reprimanded and punished the relevant employees. In a follow-up post on Wednesday, the store further noted that the employee involved had been immediately dismissed on the same day.
The shop expressed deep regret over the employee's actions and once again apologized for the incident.
Old Sheung Wan apologized on Tuesday (Aug 13), promising to enhance training for their staff to prevent such incidents from happening again.
