Chan said that with the ten care teams providing visitation and outreach services, it is expected that at least 5,000 ethnic minority households will be covered per year.
The service centers, set to increase to ten by the end of the year, are expected to serve at least 110,000 ethnic minority individuals annually, he added.
The teams will maintain close contact with the ethnic minorities, including in-person visits, distributing the latest government information, proactively understanding their needs, providing them with the necessary services, and referring them to relevant departments or organizations for follow-up as appropriate.
Chan noted that Hong Kong has over 300,000 ethnic minority residents at present, and the government aims to help them integrate into society.
Chan stated that the number of ethnic minorities has increased significantly in the past decade and there is a huge demand for the Ethnic Minority Care Teams services.
