Man assaults vegetable sellers in Lam Tin

Three people were injured in a brawl after a man attacked vegetable sellers with a glass bottle and a box cutter in Lam Tin on Thursday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m. today, a vegetable seller at Kai Tin Market in Lam Tin was struck by a man with a glass bottle, sustaining severe injuries to his head.

The assailant fled after completing his attack, and the victim, along with his male colleague, chased after him.

They chased the attacker, who swung his box cutter in a frenzy, and with the help of a pedestrian, they were able to apprehend the assailant on Kat Tin Road.

The police arrived at the scene after receiving a report and arrested the man on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon.

The 19-year-old attacker, surnamed Fong, suffered injuries to his ear, head and the corner of his eye.

The 48-year-old victim, surnamed Leung, injured his ear and the back of his head, while his 25-year-old colleague, surnamed Chan, dislocated his shoulder, and all three were taken to United Christian Hospital for medical attention while in a conscious state.

It is understood that a similar incident occurred at the same stall earlier this month, and a man was arrested at the time.

However, this time, the two stall employees were not acquainted with the arrested man, and the police are investigating the suspect's motive.
