Tsim Sha Tsui police station trials interactive voice response system service

The Hong Kong Police Force will trial an interactive voice response system service for the report room hotline 3661 1650 of the Tsim Sha Tsui Division Police Station starting from Monday noon (Oct 16), with an aim to cater to various reporting needs of the public.

A police spokesman said today that in general, the calls for assistance from the public may concern different government departments or units of the force.

“[With the new system], the public can obtain more detailed reporting information through the key-in mode of input based on the category of the cases so as to select the reporting channel needed or connection to the Report Room,” said the spokesman.

Meanwhile, the spokesman reiterated that report room hotlines are designed for reports of non-emergency nature. In case of emergency, the public should call 999 or 992 - with the latter an emergency SMS Hotline for registered speech or hearing impaired users only.
