Maple Gardens Phase III on Kin Wah Street in North Point and Block 3 of Po Tin Estate in Tuen Mun were locked down on Tuesday night over a confirmed Covid-19 case and a preliminary positive case.

The two lockdowns are expected to be lifted between 6.30am and 7am on Wednesday.
Residents in North Point must undergo compulsory testing by midnight, while those in Tuen Mun must undergo the testing by 1am Wednesday.
The compulsory testing requirement also applies to those who had been to the North Point building between December 30, 2021, and Tuesday; and those who had been to the Tuen Mun building between December 29 and Tuesday. They must take the Covid tests no later than Thursday (Jan 13).
Vaccinated citizens and those who had undergone the testing recently are required to take the Covid test as well for a mutant strain is involved.
The positive case that triggered the North Point lockdown was a 48-year-old man who lives there. He works at CITIC Securities.
He had been to PURE Fitness and Green River Restaurant in ICBC Tower in Central, McDonald’s and Broadway in Telford Plaza in Kowloon Bay, ClubONE The Victoria in East Tsim Sha Tsui, as well as the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions medical clinic on Lee Garden Road in Causeway Bay.
He was one of the 21 new cases confirmed today. He was sent to Penny’s Bay Quarantine Center last Saturday and his test result returned positive yesterday.
As for the Tuen Mun lockdown, it involved a 51-year-old female security guard who works at Penny’s Bay. She tested negative last Saturday but had a sore throat yesterday. She then tested preliminary positive the same day with a CT value ranging between 25 and 26.
She had been to Po Tin Estate, Kin Sang Estate and the Tuen Mun Town Center, all locations in Tuen Mun, according to the Center for Health Protection.
On another note, a new batch of about 400,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine were delivered to Hong Kong from Beijing on Tuesday.
Following the arrival, the staff have carried out stringent inspection to ensure the vaccine complies with the product specifications and that the transportation process follows the relevant cold-chain requirements, the government said.
