The Tokyo Paralympics will begin on August 24. Hong Kong delegation comprises 24 athletes and 40 coaches, sports science, medical and delegation officers. Hong Kong athletes will compete in eight events.
Speaking on a show, Wu said the Games were postponed for a year due to the pandemic, and athletes are in better form after extra 13 months of training.
Yet the pandemic also put a halt to many competitions around the world. Because of this, athletes may not understand their opponents well enough, she said.
It will be a “different Paralympics”, and there may be surprising results, Wu added.
She also noted that the government will put more resources in the sports sector, and the expansion of the Hong Kong Sports Institute can help the training of athletes with disabilities.
