President of the university Wong Yuk-shan said the new name “Metropolitan University” is reminiscent of the charms of metropolitan areas in Hong Kong.
“The university will aim to develop into a comprehensive university, offers an array of programs instead of only providing arts, science and business programs,” said Wong.
He said the school crest will also be changed, calling for design ideas.
“We expect the renaming to be approved within a few months,” Wong added.
