China slams US for undermining international law amidst Panama canal ports crisis

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian stated Wednesday that China has responded to the Panama Supreme Court's ruling on the canal ports, and the HKSAR government has also issued a statement that China will resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.

Lin slammed that the words and actions from the US once again expose its Cold War mentality and ideological bias.

He pointed out that the international community has witnessed that the country is seeking to seize control of the canal and undermining international law in the name of the rule of law. 

Hong Kong's CK Hutchison (0001) issued a statement indicating that its board of directors strongly opposes the ruling that its Panama Ports Company unit is unconstitutional. 

Panama Ports Company stated that it has initiated arbitration proceedings against the Republic of Panama.
