Second fire in Yuen Long Wing Ning Tsuen squatters in two days

A fire erupted in a squatter in Wing Ning Tsuen on Long Tin Road in Yuen Long at around 4.26 pm on Sunday, with thick smoke billowing into the sky and flames raging, marking the second fire in the village within two days.  

Firefighters deployed one fire hose and one breathing apparatus team to fight the blaze, putting out the fire in about half an hour. 

A total of 11 men and four women were evacuated, with no injuries reported.

A fire broke out in another shack in Wing Ning Tsuen on Saturday (Jan 25) at around 6.20 pm, prompting 13 individuals to evacuate on their own. 

It was believed aging electrical wires caused the fire.
