This December, the Hong Kong Jockey Club will hold the LONGINES International Jockeys' Championship (IJC) and the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races (HKIR), two of the city's premier racing events. Racegoers can expect to witness thrilling races with elite horses and outstanding jockeys up close in addition to an incredible array of entertainment and culinary experiences.
LONGINES International Jockeys’ Championship | 4 December at Happy Valley Racecourse
The LONGINES IJC will bring together eight well-known jockeys from abroad and four top local riders for an exciting evening of world-class competition. The top three riders in the current LONGINES World's Best Jockey rankings—English superstar Ryan Moore, New Zealand icon James McDonald, and renowned Norwegian-British rider William Buick—will compete in exciting races against Vincent Ho, the LONGINES IJC 2023 winner, and seven-time Hong Kong champion Jockey Zac Purton.
A number of incredible match-ups are promised during the event, leaving fans on the edge of their seats. Both novice and seasoned racegoers can take advantage of this exceptional chance to see up close the abilities and spirit of competition of the world's best jockeys, and support them as they compete for IJC title and a top reward of HK$600,000.
In the lead-up to the event, from 25 November, fans can vote for their favourite jockey on The Hong Kong Jockey Club's official social media platforms (Facebook @HKJC Racing Sports or Instagram @hkjcracingsports), for a chance to be among 10 winners of a LONGINES HKIR horse plush and a designated cap autographed by the 2024 LONGINES IJC champion. LONGINES Hong Kong International Races | 8 December at Sha Tin Racecourse
The focus will be primarily on the horses at the LONGINES HKIR, which will take place at Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday, December 8. The LONGINES HKIR will bring together many of the world’s top racehorses, competing for a combined prize pool of HK$126 million across four Group 1 races – the LONGINES Hong Kong Cup, LONGINES Hong Kong Mile, LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint and LONGINES Hong Kong Vase.
There will also be a number of thrilling performances on-site in addition to these fiercely competitive races. The opening ceremony will be headlined by the Korean superstar RAIN this year. RAIN has made numerous trips to Hong Kong and he enjoys Hong Kong cuisine and culture. On December 8th, he will perform at the opening of the LONGINES HKIR, which will be his first time at Sha Tin Racecourse to experience the excitement of horse racing. He will also be the first Korean superstar invited to perform there.
In addition, popular band Zpecial will perform mid-event on the stage underneath MezzaOne in the Public Betting Hall, delivering a vibrant set to further invigorate this big day at the races.

The event will feature a selection of favourites from Australia, France, Japan, and Hong Kong (only available at Trackside Kiosk 2 in the Public Betting Hall, subject to availability). Highlights include Australian sausage rolls, baked French escargot potato gratin, sakura shrimp crab cakes, and Hongkongers’ beloved spiced beef offal—a melange of flavours sure to satisfy all food lovers. Racegoers can also quench their thirst with a variety of beverages while immersing themselves in the captivating atmosphere.
