More border control points will be built to support collaboration platforms within the Greater Bay Area between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, according to Liu Weixiang, the chief of the office of port of entry and exit of the Shenzhen government.
Speaking on Tuesday, Liu stated that Shenzhen currently has 16 Class I ports, making it the city with the most comprehensive functions and highest throughput of ports in China.
Apart from rebuilding and upgrading the aging ports such as Huanggang and Luohu ports, new port constructions are under planning, including Qianhai and the Lok Ma Chau Loop ports, Liu added.
Meanwhile, Liu said the functions of existing ports will be adjusted. The cargo examination of Sha Tou Jiao and Huanggang Ports will be canceled, and the existing function of fresh food clearance at Wenjindu Port will be transferred to the Liantang control point to improve the cargo transportation arrangement.
Moreover, a cross-border helicopter immigration service will be added at the Shekou Port, he said.
