Customs announced Wednesday that it had seized about 5.1 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine worth around HK$2.5 million at Kwai Chung.
Officers from the Drug Investigation Group inspected a seaborne consolidated consignment from Malaysia at the Kwai Chung Customhouse Cargo Examination Compound on June 25, based on a risk assessment.
After the X-ray examination, officers seized the hidden batch of suspected methamphetamine concealed among three boxs of toys and pillows.
Officers conducted a controlled delivery operation and arrested a 39-year-old male consignee, who claimed to be a driver, in To Kwa Wan on Wednesday (Jul 16) for trafficking in dangerous drugs.
The arrestee has been released on bail with an ongoing investigation.
