Zheng mentioned the "six changes" and "six constants" in his speech today, highlighting that the constants include the central government's unwavering commitment and the Hong Kong people's full support for "One Country, Two Systems." The "A4 Alliance" stated that "One Country, Two Systems" is the best institutional guarantee for Hong Kong society, a crucial cornerstone for maintaining Hong Kong's long-term prosperity and stability, and a successful national policy that grants the Special Administrative Region its unique advantages. Over the 27 years since the return, Hong Kong's economy has continued to grow, with GDP per capita increasing from $27,000 (about 210,000 Hong Kong dollars) in 1997 to $50,000 (about 390,000 Hong Kong dollars) in 2023. Hong Kong's status as an international financial, shipping, and trade center has been continuously consolidated, and it has been named one of the world's freest economies for many consecutive years.
Regarding people's livelihood, the "A4 Alliance" pointed out that the SAR government has always been people-centered and result-oriented, focusing on solving long-standing issues in Hong Kong such as land and housing, healthcare for the elderly, and youth development. They have strived to integrate Hong Kong into the overall national development, allowing all citizens to share the fruits of development. At the same time, Hong Kong society has remained stable overall, and the rule of law has continued to improve. In particular, in recent years, the implementation of the principle of "patriots administering Hong Kong," the improvement of the electoral system, and the implementation of the "Hong Kong National Security Law" and the "National Security Ordinance" have allowed society to move beyond political strife. Hong Kong is now in the best period to focus on economic development and seek progress, which has a profound impact on Hong Kong's transition from governance to prosperity and its long-term stability and prosperity.
The "A4 Alliance" expressed that looking forward, they will continue to fully support the government's administration, promote Hong Kong's economic development and people's welfare, break down solidified interest barriers, and further integrate into the national development. They aim to leverage Hong Kong's unique "One Country, Two Systems" advantage in the "Belt and Road" initiative and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, seizing the rare historical opportunity of the world's major changes unseen in a century. They also hope that all sectors and the general public in Hong Kong will uphold the spirit of "those who share the same desires succeed, and those who sail through storms together triumph," firmly support the SAR government, and jointly safeguard national security, allowing the "Pearl of the Orient" to shine again.
