A 62-year-old mainland woman drowned when swimming in the waters off Nam Fung Chau in Sai Kung. She was soon rushed to hospital but was eventually pronounced dead.
It was understood that the woman surnamed Huo was having a boat party with her family and there were 10 people onboard the ship including the crew.
The incident occurred around 1.23 pm when the party switched to the beach on Nam Fung Chau and Huo went for a swim.
Huo was then heard crying for help on the water surface some 40 meters away and the crew soon rushed to rescue her. Although she was rescued and retreated back onto the boat, she fell unconscious after a while.
A report was then filed and Huo was flown to Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan by the Government Flying Service. She was eventually pronounced dead.
It was understood that Huo was from Guangzhou and arrived in Hong Kong on a two-way permit.
