Hong Kong residents will not need to pay to use various public sports and recreation facilities on “Sports for All Day 2023,” to be held on August 6.
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department said the focal activity of Sport For All Day this year is "fitness exercise for wellness." A series of physical fitness demonstrations and play-in sessions for public participation will be organized to encourage the public to pursue a healthy body and mind lifestyle through regular physical exercise.
Most leisure facilities will be open for free use, and sports programs will be held in designated sports centers across districts. Participants can also view a live webcast of sports demonstrations via the event dedicated website.
Booking for the free use of facilities on August 6 can be made at Leisure Link booking counters in various districts and via Internet booking, starting from 7 am on July 31 onwards, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each person can only book one free session, irrespective of the type of leisure facility.
No prior booking is required for public swimming pool facilities. Members of the public may line up at the entrance of swimming pools before the start of a session. Free admission is offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
The department will also hold free sports activities from 2 pm to 6 pm on that day at designated sports centers across Hong Kong.
Activities to be held include health talks, sports activities for parents, children, and adolescents, demonstrations, and games for the elderly and people with disabilities.
Activity coupons will be distributed to the public from 8.30 am on July 24 at the District Leisure Services Offices and designated venues across the 18 districts.
