Hui believed that people’s Covid-19 antibody levels have dropped over time, with their third booster taken more than half a year ago.
He said people of higher risk of infection including elderly and those with weakened immune systems should receive a fourth booster three months after receiving their third jab, while others could get their fourth jab half a year after their third one.
Meanwhile, the Chinese University respiratory diseases expert said the current Covid situation on the mainland is similar to the start of Hong Kong’s fifth Covid wave.
He expected the pandemic on the mainland would gradually subside around April and June.
