Yat Tung Estate in Tung Chung was locked down at 7.30 pm Sunday after several residents tested positive for the coronavirus.
Several residents tested preliminary positive for Covid-19, while sewage samples collected also returned positive — an indication that there are asymptomatic cases in the building. Authorities hope to complete the mass testing operation by 3pm Monday.
PPE-clad healthcare workers and police officers arrived at Ying Yat House of Yat Tung (I) Estate at 7pm Sunday evening to set up facilities for compulsory testing.
All people in the housing block, excluding the Salvation Army Family Centre on the ground floor, must receive testing. They must remain on the premises until all those subject to compulsory testing have received confirmation of test results.
Those who have visited the Ying Yat House between February 7 and February 20 for over two hours, including fully vaccinated individuals and those who were recently tested, must get tested by February 22.
A hotline (3140 6136) has been set up for those who have inquiries regarding the mandatory testing arrangements.
