Louise Ho Pui-shan has become Hong Kong's first ever female customs chief after her promotion on Thursday.
Ho was formerly the Deputy Commissioner of Customs and Excise. Her promotion to the top post took effect on Thursday.
She succeeded Hermes Tang Yi-hoi, who has proceeded on pre-retirement leave after serving the Customs and Excise Department for 34 years.
Ho, aged 53, joined the Customs and Excise Department as an Inspector in February 1991. She was promoted to Superintendent of Customs and Excise in 2010, to Senior Superintendent of Customs and Excise in 2013, to Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Excise in 2017 and to Deputy Commissioner of Customs and Excise in 2019.
Her husband is Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Erick Tsang Kwok-wai.
