Netizens find it hard to stomach how a YouTuber from Japan spent 100 days with a pet pig Kalbi, only to cook and eat it afterwards.
The man uploaded videos documenting the life of pet pig Kalbi daily to the YouTube channel “Pig You Eat After 100 Days”.
The first video was uploaded to YouTube on May 25, when the 75-day-old pig arrived home. According to the YouTuber, Kalbi the pig was born on February 27.
Although the YouTuber clearly stated from the start that he would eat the pet 100 days after he brought it home, audiences have grown fond of the pig after seeing the YouTuber playing with it, feeding it and taking it out for a walk.
Yesterday marked the 100th day of Kalbi's arrival, meaning he would be killed and cooked.
In yesterday's video, the YouTuber put Kalbi in a pet bag and brought it onto a vehicle. The man was seen leaving the vehicle with Kalbi.
The man then returned to the vehicle carrying a cardboard box. He opened the box as he arrived home, and took out a frozen pig from the box. He then started seasoning it and cooking it.
Before eating the roasted pork, the YouTuber sat on his heels and closed his palms. In the video he then lit up a candle in front of Kalbi's picture.
Netizens still could not believe Kalbi was dead. They held on to hopes as a small line of text appeared for a spilt second in the end of the video, saying “This story is fiction.”
Many viewers were shocked by the ending.
One said “Now he [Kalbi] lives with you forever.”
Another said he reflected on the incident, saying that regardless of whether Kalbi is really dead, a pig lost its life in the video.
The video received 1.6 million views as of today.
