Canadian International School of Hong Kong (CDNIS) is pleased to announce the opening of its new Early Years Centre at THE SOUTHSIDE in Wong Chuk Hang. It is the first time CDNIS has expanded its footprint outside the Nam Long Shan Road campus, strengthening the school community and offering its youngest students a place designed just for them. Creative, engaging learning spaces spark natural curiosity while early exposure to technology gives students a head start on the science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and language acquisition education that is critical in today’s world.
When the school year begins on August 14, 2024, 240 students will attend the new campus. These include members of its popular half-day Early Years 1 bilingual programme for 3-year-olds and a new bilingual Nursery programme for 2-year-olds. Students learn in both English and Mandarin, benefitting from CDNIS’s fluid dual-language immersion teaching. This year’s Nursery and Early Years 1 programme together drew nearly 800 applications, with students from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and mainland China making up the top five nationalities of applicants.
The 14,000 square-foot space features state-of-the-art learning technology including the world’s first-ever educational collaboration with the Japanese arts collective teamLab. Through this groundbreaking technology that blends art, science and language acquisition, students’ drawings come to life in a colourful, animated world, igniting their imaginations as they explore how their actions influence their surroundings. The teamLab system can connect with others around the world, incorporating drawings from users anywhere and reinforcing students’ global mindset and sense of connection. The teamLab collaboration will be available to the whole school community as students from other grade levels visit to experience this revolutionary learning tool.
