Hong Kong’s multiple Paralympic champion Yu Chui Yee added another medal to her collection Wednesday by taking silver in the women’s individual épée A at the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and 9th Special Olympics–Hong Kong Jockey Club Cup wheelchair fencing competition, with the award presented by Jockey Club steward Anita Fung.
All Hong Kong athletes earning medals at the National Games qualify for cash awards under the Jockey Club Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme
administered by the Hong Kong Sports Institute.
Individual gold, silver and bronze medallists receive HK$187,500, HK$93,750 and HK$37,500 respectively, while team medals are worth HK$375,000, HK$187,500 and HK$75,000.
The Jockey Club has committed more than HK$500 million to support both the Hong Kong and Guangdong competition zones of the National Games and Para Games, serving as the sole partner organization for the Hong Kong zone.
Its funding covers volunteer programs, city-wide community and school promotion, and free tickets for underprivileged groups and youth, with nearly 100 club volunteers actively assisting at venues.
