Two elderly people reportedly blocked a promotional photo spot for the Hong Kong film “Night King” at Kwai Fong station on Sunday (Mar 15) after a dispute with other visitors.
The spot was set up to promote the hit local film “Night King.” As part of the campaign, the station’s English name was temporarily changed to “Franchesca,” a popular character in the movie, attracting large numbers of fans eager to take photos.
According to an eyewitness posting on social media, several people asked the pair to move away from the promotional board so they could take pictures. The elderly pair reportedly felt the request was rude and decided to stand directly in front of the display, blocking others from photographing it.
Photos circulating online show a man and a woman standing close to a signboard reading “Kwai Fong Franchesca” and “Support Hong Kong films.” MTR staff later intervened to mediate.
The incident sparked heated debate online, with some internet users criticizing the pair for intentionally obstructing others, while others argued that both sides should have shown more courtesy.
In a reply to media inquiries on Monday (Mar 16), MTR Corporation said staff noticed a dispute among passengers in the station concourse on Sunday afternoon and stepped in to assist. Police were later called to the scene.
Police said officers arrived at about 3.47pm after receiving a report from MTR staff. The incident involved a 73-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman and was handled as a dispute. No arrests were made.
