A 47-year-old British man landed himself in double trouble when he handcuffed himself in his Wan Chai home in the early hours yesterday and was subsequently arrested for possessing an offensive weapon.
Police said the man cuffed one of his hands with a "real handcuff" and could not break free, prompting him to seek help from the Wan Chai Fire Station.
After removing the handcuffs from him, firefighters called the police as handcuffs are restricted items in Hong Kong.
After investigation, police arrested the man for possessing an offensive weapon.
Sources said the man works at a security company. He had found a pair of handcuffs that were given to him by an old friend years ago while he was tidying up his home and played with them. He then accidentally cuffed himself and could not break free and sought help from the rescue department with his wife.
