Shares from stroller manufacturers and baby formula makers to tutoring firms jumped after China announced couples will be allowed to have up to three children yesterday afternoon.
Shares of Goodbaby International, which makes and sells strollers, baby car seats, and cribs in China, Europe and North America, rocketed 30.89 percent to HK$2.50 shortly after the news.
Aidigong Maternal and Child Health, which offers confinement baby care and postpartum mother recovery services, shot up by 21.67 percent to HK$0.73.
Similarly, Babytree Group, operator of an online platform that offers parenting advice and communication channels to young parents in China, was up 14.84 percent to HK$1.47.
Fertility companies also gained.
Jinxin Fertility, a mainland assisted reproductive services provider, closed 17.51 percent higher while Suzhou Basecare Medical surged 15.10 percent. Milk formula manufacturers were not left behind, with Beingmate rising as much as 10 percent in Shenzhen.
In Hong Kong, Yashili International increased 8.22 percent, China Feihe edged up 2.84 percent, and China Mengniu Dairy saw a 2.51 percent increase.
Mainland tutoring firms and private education providers also performed well.
New Oriental Education and Technology grew 6.12 percent while Tianli Education International climbed 9.61 percent.
