Dizziness can be a frustrating symptom to deal with, and it can be challenging to pinpoint the root cause.
Recently, two patients came to me with similar complaints of dizziness, but were given very different treatments.
In Chinese medicine, we focus on the root cause of an ailment, rather than just treating the symptoms.
To do this, we examine the patient's pulse, read their tongue, and ask many questions about their daily life. This helps us gather as much information as possible to find the cause of a patient's sickness.
For one patient, his dizziness was a result of the lack of energy and slow digestive functioning, which caused the accumulation of toxins inside.
The patient had recently recovered from Covid-19 and experienced dizziness. In light of this, I gave him herbal medicine to improve his digestive system, enhance his energy, and remove the accumulation of toxins.
For another patient, the root cause of her dizziness was related to her work environment. As she was working on a big project, she felt immense pressure, and had difficulty sleeping for a few months. She was also the type of person who easily got stressed and kept thinking about work even when not on the job.
I gave her herbal medicine to calm down and relax, but the key factor was that she was aware of the root cause and eventually changed her job.
This approach to treating dizziness is different from the Western medicine approach.
Chinese medicine practitioners believe that treating the root cause is more effective in the long run and can help prevent future occurrences of the same ailment.
It's important to remember that our daily life is closely connected to our health.
Stress, poor diet, lack of sleep, and other factors can all contribute to various ailments - and that includes dizziness.
