John Anthony in Causeway Bay will offer an eight-course set dinner of modern yet authentic Chinese dishes with romantic elements.
Two exclusive Valentine's Day dishes are featured. The Iberica pork Presa char siu with rose-infused Yellow Mountain honey is an elevated version of the Cantonese dish, presenting tender meat that has the Spanish pork's nutty flavor and sweetness of the honey.
The other is the pan-seared Australian scallops and e-fu noodles with sakura shrimp sauce. Topped with lightly seared scallops, the dish is cooked risotto-style, with the sauce infusing intense seafood flavors.
The menu also features the eatery's signature dish - and chef Satio Chau's favorite - the pink rose lobster har gao. "The har gao is almost too pretty to eat," said Chau. "The mild flavor of rose wine, echoed by a rose-petal garnish, provides a romantic hint of color and helps highlight the fresh flavors of lobster meat."
He also recommends dessert plum mousse with cherry-glazed plums and cookie crumble - a modern twist on the classic street-style snack of sugar-coated fruit skewers. With wine-red glazed plum mousse spheres encircled by a bed of chocolate cookie crumbs, the bright pop of red is perfect for the romantic occasion.
Two special Valentine's Day cocktails are also included in the menu - The One and The Other Half. With hibiscus-infused soda as the key ingredient in The One, the flowers left over from the infusion are dehydrated, blended and used as edible garnish for The Other Half, connecting the drinks like lovers - both in name and components. Priced at HK$999, the menu will be available on February 14 and 15.
If you decide to opt for Western cooking, a night at The French Window in Central is sure to be a memorable one, not only because of its airy, conservatory-like dining room that overlooks Victoria Harbour.
On February 14, a four-course menu (HK$1,388) will be served between 6pm and 8pm, while a five-course menu (HK$1,988) will be served between 8.30 and 11pm. The course begins with the Gillardeau oyster served with smoked herring caviar, compressed cucumber and seaweed gel, which combines the seafood's umami taste and the cucumber's crispiness.
The A4 Kagoshima wagyu striploin, a main dish option, is tender and will satisfy meat lovers. Another highlight is the lychee and rum red velvet cheesecake, designed in a pink flower shape befitting the sweet atmosphere.
If your other half is a fan of Tiffany & Co, The Tiffany Blue Box Cafe at Tsim Sha Tsui is a must-go destination. Its five-course set dinner (HK$1,688) on Valentine's Day is sure to help in creating a lasting memory with your date while being surrounded by the enchanting Tiffany Blue. A tempting main course option is the slow-cooked chicken with black truffle, in which the tender chicken roll and chicken-thigh fillet paired with a flavorful truffle sauce will tantalize the taste buds.
The adorable dessert Petit Blue Box cake, consisting of bergamot rose mousse, raspberry strawberry filling and almond cake with ice cream on the side, is a perfect seduction tool. The dinner will be served from 6.30 to 9pm on February 14.
