Kai Tak Sports Park is set to host its first-ever Kai Tak Art Week from March 21 to 27, offering a vibrant lineup of artist panel discussions, workshops and a weekend artistry bazaar.
A two-day series of panel discussions, scheduled for March 24 and 25, will bring renowned artists, architects, and cultural leaders to explore themes such as Art & Culture, Art & The Outdoors, and Art & Mindfulness.
Additionally, art enthusiasts can participate in nine immersive workshops, ranging from traditional Chinese ink painting to modern sculpture techniques.
Australian artist Dominique Sutton will lead a session titled Drawing in Steel, where participants will craft their own sculptures inspired by his work Water Sky.Meanwhile, local artist Isis Shek will host a workshop on Kintsugi, the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold.
On March 22 and 23, a bazaar will be held at the central square with some 50 stalls offering handcrafted goods, designer pieces, and artisanal creations.Visitors can explore unique keepsakes while enjoying live music performances.
The park has also collaborated with local and overseas artists to present 10 public art installations, each inspired by Kai Tak's history.Among them is Ren Zhe's Nine Dragons, a striking stainless steel and LED installation that celebrates Chinese cultural heritage. Another standout piece is David Mesguich's The Transmission, which depicts two children playing cuju, an ancient Chinese football game, symbolizing the enduring legacy of sports.
The art week is part of the park's grand opening month, which also includes sports tournaments, cultural showcases, and a food carnival. This includes a dining cove carnival to be held on weekends from late this month to late April, which will feature nearly 30 food stalls offering local specialties, craft beer, and innovative dining concepts.An indoor orienteering challenge game will be held at Kai Tak Mall on March 22 and 23, with limited-time shopping and dining discounts offered from late this month.
The Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament will be held at the main stadium between March 28 and 30.In other news, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui met Singapore's Minister for Culture, Community, and Youth and the Second Minister for Law of Singapore Edwin Tong Chun-fai, to enhance cooperation with the city state in the areas of culture, sports and tourism.
