Foundation cares for HK families struggling with mental health issues

The WEMP Foundation, founded by Adrian Cheng Chi-kong, has made a significant impact by supporting nearly 200 families with children suffering from mental health problems over the past three years.

WEMP, which stands for Well-being, Emotional Intelligence, Mental Health, and Parenting, is a non-profit organization comprising business elites, scholars, social workers, psychologists and educators.

The foundation is dedicated to families facing mental distress overcoming challenges and eliminating thoughts of self-harm.

Cheng said of the foundation's mission on its website: "Today's children are tomorrow's leaders."

He believes that mental wellness is crucial for children and that society has a responsibility to educate, nurture and empower them.

Yesterday, WEMP chief executive Alex Mo Tik-sang, shared that the organization has assisted nearly 200 families through social workers and psychologists. He highlighted a case involving a family with a jobless father, a depressed mother and children struggling with mental health.

WEMP acted swiftly by providing funds for basic needs and offering counseling.
