Polytechnic University has joined forces with Guangzhou's Southern Medical University and its affiliated hospital in Shenzhen to establish an international sports medicine rehabilitation center.

PolyU said yesterday the initiative seeks to develop rehabilitation professionals with global perspectives and advanced skills, while also serving as a platform for international cooperation.
Last week, a memorandum of understanding was signed during a visit led by PolyU's vice president of research and innovation, Christopher Chao Yu-hang, to Southern Medical University.
Chao said PolyU is committed to technological innovation, research development and talent cultivation and hopes the collaboration would enhance the application of advanced sports medicine and rehabilitation technologies both domestically and globally, thereby accelerating the development of the medical sector in the Greater Bay Area.
"PolyU's department of rehabilitation sciences is home to leading scholars and experienced clinical instructors, making it a top academic institution in Asia and globally," Chao said.The center will also explore the possibility of launching joint programs between the two universities, as well as facilitating international academic exchanges and clinical internship opportunities.
Leveraging the research capabilities of both the Guangzhou university and PolyU's Sports Science and Technology Institute, the center plans to initiate innovative research in areas such as sports science, intelligent rehabilitation equipment and sports monitoring systems.
