Pink Walk talks the walk

Some 2,000 people joined the Pink Walk 2024 organized by the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation at the Peak yesterday.

The annual charity walk aims to raise public awareness of breast cancer and fundraising to support the Foundation through education and screenings and to provide support for their recovery - as well as research and advocacy.

Foundation chair Eliza Fok Ho Yi-wah said: "In this Pink October, the HKBCF is delighted to have over 20 organizations join hands to combat breast cancer by launching a series of fundraising activities in support of our work."

Hospital Authority director for strategy and planning Ching Wai-kuen said there's a need for ongoing attention to the threats posed by breast cancer as it is the leading cancer among women in the SAR.

The city saw over 5,500 new cases in 2021 - a 63 percent increase compared to 2011.

"The HKBCF is a valuable partner of the HA, providing not only support and encouragement for patients but also bridging the gap between the Hospital Authority and public," Ching said.
