Panda parents play it up as youngsters

Ocean Park released rare footage of Ying Ying and Le Le - who became parents recently - playing together when they were young.

The 40-second video was shot by a panda fan named Annie AnAn in 2009, by then Ying Ying and Le Le were four years old and had been living in Hong Kong for two years.

In the video posted on Instagram yesterday, Ying Ying is seen bumping into Le Le as they playfully roll together on the grass. "Indeed, relationships need to be nurtured from a young age," the park posted.

It also shared a fact that the scene normally can only be witnessed when giant pandas are two or three years old, as they begin to live independently once they reach adulthood at five.

Ying Ying, now 19 years old, gave birth to a pair of panda cubs in August.

The twins are expected to meet the public early next year.
