Xi links up with HK students

Learn about Chinese history and be the pillars of society, President Xi Jinping told Hong Kong secondary students in replying to their letter.

Xi told four students at Pui Kiu Middle School that he was pleased to know that they had taken part in activities including interacting with Chinese astronauts.

"Patriotism is at the core of the Chinese national spirit," he said.

"Hong Kong people always have the tradition of loving the country and the SAR, which is an important foundation of the steady implementation of the one country, two systems principle."

Xi also appealed to the students to have a better understanding of the country's history and current situation to make contributions.

Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu thanked Xi for replying to Hong Kong students, saying the SAR would continue to promote patriotic education.
