UnionPay offers $1 travel discount

Commuters who pay with UnionPay on their first ride can enjoy a HK$1 discount on the next journey.

This is a special promotion offered by UnionPay International as it expands the mobile payment app for public transport to all trams.

E-payment fare collection devices have been installed on trams and passengers can simply scan and go making use the UnionPay App ride code. Fares will be deducted from their bonded payment cards.

Alternatively, travelers may also pay with UnionPay flash cards or smartphones bundled with UnionPay cards.

With immediate effect, a HK$1 "ride bonus" discount for the next ride has been introduced for passengers using UnionPay with a UnionApp Ride Code.

In addition to the tram, the ride code is also applicable to KMB, Citybus and Long Win buses, and will be extended to ferries in the future. A dedicated MTR ride code will be set up later.
