Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said he hoped to see more "good news" winning news awards next year, as The Standard claimed three trophies last Friday at the 2022 Hong Kong News Awards organized by the Newspaper Society of Hong Kong."Many reports on the Happy Hong Kong campaign are good news," Lee said, adding that he looked forward to seeing more award-winning news, be it on Hong Kong's strong economic growth, the global talent pool in the city or its top-ranking in various areas.
"There is a saying that goes 'no news is good news,' but positive events can also be news," Lee said, adding that uplifting news could inspire readers to come up with ideas to advance society.

The Standard won both the top and the second runner-up prizes in the best business news writing (English) category, as well as the second runner-up award in the best headline (English) category.
The newspaper's parent company, Sing Tao News Corporation - which also owns Sing Tao Daily and Headline Daily - received 14 awards in total.
