Bus stop poles aim to spark nostalgia

KMB has donated "Caring Bus Stop Poles" to six more elderly care homes to refresh seniors' memories of what Hong Kong streets had looked like.

The familiarity brought about by the poles aims to help elders with dementia recall their youth, increase their sense of belonging and prevent them from wandering out of a care home and going missing.

KMB also launched a project to search for missing patients. Family members can provide information about the lost elderly -- including their Octopus card number -- through KMB's search hotline 27454466 or the chat function in the mobile application "App 1933."

When the missing person boards a bus and taps their Octopus card on the reader, a special sound will be generated to alert the driver to notify the company.

After the missing person is reunited with their family, their Octopus record will be deleted.
