Winner's wife performs like a champ

Newly-elected legislator Kenneth Fok Kai-kong has thanked his wife, four-time Olympic gold medal diver Guo Jingjing, for being the behind-the-scenes support force in his successful run in Sunday's election.

Fok, 42, who was elected in the sports, performing arts, culture and publication functional constituency, showed up with Guo after the results were announced, and he was sporting a dotted blue tie that his wife had handpicked for him.

Looking back on 48 days of campaigning, Fok said he had spent much less time than he wanted with his family - he and Guo have two daughters and a son - as his daily schedules had been packed.

While he sometimes worked until midnight for the following day's events, Fok said, his wife never reproached him.

"I'm so grateful for my wife during this time," he said. "She had to take care of everything at home."
