Tesla crashes into police motorcycle in Causeway Bay, injuring an officer

A Tesla was captured on dashcam colliding with a police motorcycle at a Causeway Bay intersection, leaving an officer injured.

The incident took place around 6pm last Friday at the Hysan Avenue and Hoi Ping Road intersection. 

Circulating video captures the Tesla exiting Lee Gardens and turning onto Hysan Avenue toward Leighton Road, while a police motorcycle with flashing lights was driving against traffic through a traffic jam to respond to a separate incident.

The officer was thrown to the ground when his bike tipped over, sending a brief puff of white smoke from the scene. 

The clip concludes with the police getting up by himself and attempting to right the motorcycle, during which two bystanders hurried over to assist. 

It is understood that the Tesla driver was uninjured and the officer was sent to Ruttonjee Hospital for treatment after reporting back pain.

On-site photos showed minor front-bumper damage to the Tesla and its license plate fallen off, with the police motorcycle lying on its side nearby.

The investigation is ongoing.
