A Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) driver was taken to hospital on Monday morning after he was suspected to have fainted while driving, causing a bus on Route 75X to collide with a roadside barrier along Tolo Highway.
The incident occurred at around 8.20am near the Ma Liu Shui Ferry Pier section of Tolo Highway. According to police, the bus appeared to have lost control and struck the roadside barrier. Passengers reported the incident to the police after the driver was believed to have fainted, with passengers unable to leave the vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and the driver later regained consciousness. He was subsequently taken by ambulance to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment. No passengers were injured in the incident.
KMB said the accident involved a route 75X bus traveling towards Kowloon City Ferry Pier. The company stated that at around 8am, the driver was suspected to have suddenly felt unwell while driving near University Station along Tolo Highway, after which the bus collided with the barrier.
The driver was sent to hospital for treatment and none of the passengers on board sustained injuries, the company added.
Police are investigating the cause of the incident.
Route 75X operates between Fu Shin Estate in Tai Po and Kowloon City Ferry Pier, passing through areas including Tai Po Centre, Tai Po Market, Kwong Fuk Estate, Tolo Highway and Tate’s Cairn Tunnel.
