The event, held at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, closed registration earlier with 1,200 spots.
Participants paid a HK$90 donation, verified by the SPCA, and received an "SPCA Dogathon - 1 Day MTR Woof Pass.”
Dogs must stay in pet carriers and travel in the last car of trains.
The Airport Express, West Kowloon High-Speed Rail, the Racecourse, Lo Wu, and Lok Ma Chau stations, as well as MTR buses, and feeder buses are excluded.
The MTR will monitor operations closely and deploy extra staff at interchanging and busy stations. Crowding is expected from 7 to 8am toward Disneyland Station, and passengers are urged to allow for extra time.
The MTR urges mutual respect and tolerance. Those preferring distance from dogs can choose other cars on the day.
